Chapter Eight

Dominic couldn’t believe how turned on he was by his mate’s display. He had no doubt that he would have a zipper imprint on his cock when he got undressed later. Jasmine didn’t realise it, but she had just proved her worth as his mate in front of a pack elder and some of his pack mates.

“You’re definitely going to have your hands full with that one!” Mitch said, patting him on the back. Then he turned toward his granddaughter. “As for you, young lady, I think you need to learn your place in this pack. You’re an omega, which is nothing to be ashamed about. Everyone has an important role in this pack, and no one is better than another. Even the Alpha, while he may be our leader, needs every single pack member. Our unity as a whole is what makes this pack survive and thrive.”

“That’s exactly what Jasmine said earlier, grandfather.” Emily went on to explain the conversation she had with Jasmine. Dominic didn’t think he could have been prouder of his mate than he was in that moment.

“Then she’s not only courageous but smart and kind-hearted. All are good qualities for a future queen to have,” Mitch acknowledged, before once again turning toward Catherine and adding, “All qualities you seem to lack, granddaughter. Now, I think it’s time to go so we don’t disrupt any more of the Alpha’s night. Good-bye, Dominic. Thank you for your time, and we’ll speak again soon.”

“Thank you for bringing that matter to my attention, Mitch, and I trust you’ll deal with your granddaughter’s unacceptable behaviour.”

“You can count on it, Alpha,” Mitch said, bowing his head in respect.

Once everyone had left, Dominic couldn’t help but stare at the doorway his mate had disappeared through, wondering how he was going to soothe her anger.

“Why don’t I go over to inform Dad of this new situation, while you talk to Jasmine?”

“Thanks, little brother, I’ll do just that,” Dominic said. “Any suggestions?”

“Yep, if she has a knife in her hand, stay out of arm’s reach,” Luc said over his shoulder.

Dominic followed the clatter and clang and found Jasmine in the kitchen. Leaning against the doorframe, he took some time just to watch his mate as she ferociously mixed. Luc had told him that she loved spending time in the kitchen, but it was also her outlet when she had a bad day.

“Baby, I’m sorry Catherine upset you.” Dominic immediately realised his error when the stirring stopped, and Jasmine’s shoulders became tense. Before he could make amends, his mate turned toward him.

“You think I’m upset at that woman’s visit. Sure, it was unpleasant, but it isn’t the first time I have come across a rude person, and I very much doubt it will be the last,” Jasmine said, taking a step toward him before adding, “No, I’m upset you allowed her to talk to your pack members that way, and you did nothing about it. Then, when she attacked me, you had the nerve to stand back and watch.
